2023 Liminal Intramural Open

The CrossFit Open

Every year, CrossFit HQ runs an event called “The CrossFit Open“. As we have the past couple of years, we use the Open and make it our own internal 'competition'. Except we’re not trying to go to the CrossFit games. We ARE interested in helping you push to new levels in fitness, build community, and have a lot of fun in the process.

How Does it Work?

We’ll divide you up into three or four teams, each with a Team Captain and a funny name. Previous winners have been the "Liminal Squat Criminals” and the "Slurpee Burpee Chirpees". You can earn points for your team by participating, winning an event, and showing the most spirit during events.  After three weeks of intense workouts we’ll reveal last community workout.  Last year involved a Squid Games type event.

Everyone in the gym gets put on a team by Coach Nick. Then, the Captains work hard to get you to participate in the best, most FUN event at Liminal.

Points are awarded for participation, scores, posting on social media, having the best team spirit, and a host of other options geared on just showing up and having fun.


In 2023,  our Intramural Open will have 3 workouts; with a BONUS event planned, typically hosted on a Saturday morning.

We’ll complete the Open workouts during Group Fitness class time on Fridays. Reserve your spot and show up on Friday to participate.  Last year we ran a heat on Thursday nights for those who can't make Friday.  We'll provide options for you if you come both days.


For some of our members, the Open is an annual measuring stick to test their improvements in fitness.

You may have noticed our programming has been a little different the past couple months!  That's been intentional to prepare you for the movements that will likely show up.

We’re working on specialty programs available for those who want to improve one or two specific skills, too. In the meantime, if you’re dying to get your first toes-to-bars, or link your pull-ups, tell your coach and book a personal training session! We’ll get you some 1:1 time and you'll see progress even quicker with these movements.


We’ll have some random draws each week for prizes. The top team will be immortalized with their names on a banner hanging in the gym. (You may see some from previous years coming on the wall soon.

Our focus is on FUN. We want you to participate because it will make you fitter, and you’ll be happy and love life more.
