Why we exist as a nonprofit

Clarkston is one of the most diverse cities in America. Our gym reflects that.

Clarkston, GA resettles more refugees per capita than almost any other city in the country. Afghan families, Somali families, and neighbors from dozens of other nations have built lives here. We believe they deserve the same access to health and fitness as everyone else.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, CrossFit Liminal runs on a dual model: paying members fund the gym, and that gym serves the whole community. Sliding-scale memberships mean cost is never the reason someone stays on the sideline.

This is not charity work. It is community building. Our refugee members and our paying members train side by side, cheer each other on, and lift more together than they ever would apart.

How we serve the community

Programs built for everyone

Afghan Women's Class

Coach Sadiqa Rahmani leads dedicated classes for Afghan women, providing coaching in a culturally appropriate setting. Sadiqa was a member at CrossFit Liminal for two years before becoming a coach herself. She knows this journey firsthand.

Sliding-Scale Memberships

Cost should not be a barrier to getting strong. Our sliding-scale membership model means refugee and community members can train at a rate that reflects their actual income. Nobody is turned away because of finances.

Youth Programs

We provide after-school CrossFit classes during the school year and summer programs for 100 youth in Clarkston each year. Teaching kids how to move well and take care of their bodies is the longest investment we make.

Ruck for Refugees

We run to serve

Our Ruck for Refugees program partners with Friends of Refugees to raise awareness and support for the Clarkston refugee community. This is where our members put their fitness to work for something bigger than a PR.
